Finishing off the short week

Started off the day with a portrait of UA track star Denise Bargiachi. I liked the light and expression on her but as for a portrait overall, it really doesn't stand strong for me.

After that, I went over to a park right down the street from my apartment in Johnson. I've been by this park numerous times but for some reason I've never stopped to shoot. I just couldn't pass up getting a shot of these kids playing tetherball.

Finally, I drove down to Ozark to cover some high school girls basketball in the 4A tournament. I don't think I got anything special from it, but I LOVED lighting this gym. This was a fun and easy gym to light. And for those interested, I've got two White Lightnings set up high above one end of the court.

Back to work

Vacation's over unfortunately. We had a great trip back to the Old North State but it's also nice to be back in the Natural State.

So here's a sampling of my first two days back from the trip.

One last post before vacation

Today was all enterprise (or wild art or stand alone) shooting for me today.

I went first to the UA campus where I knew they were taking individual photos for the yearbook.

After that, I went over to the skate park at Walker Park in Fayetteville. I knew the kiddos were out of school for President's Day and it was a nice day outside so I figured I'd find a few folks there. I've done this shot before but due to space limitations, it never got ink on the page. So I wanted to do it again.

This will be my last post for about a week as my girlfriend and I are taking a vacation back to my home state of North Carolina to visit with friends and family (and introduce her to all of them).

Basketball-filled weekend

Valentine's weekend was basketball-filled for me. I covered the men's Hogs team on Saturday against Kentucky and the women's team on Sunday hosting Ole Miss.

Where the men were embarrassed with a new arena scoring record set by Kentucky's Jodie Meeks (45 points), the pulled off the victory over the Rebels the following day.

Recapping a few days

Yeah, yeah. I know; I know.

So, without further ado, here's the last week in photos without explanation nor excuse.

Super Sunday and Hung-Over Monday

I started Sunday looking around for locals cleaning up trees in their yards. It didn't take long in Fayetteville. Throughout the city, fallen trees cover yards, driveways, neighborhood streets, houses and cars.

After shooting a little cleanup, I went over to the UA indoor tennis facility where Arkansas was facing Notre Dame in the second round of the ITA championships. While the Hogs fell in the match, senior Aurelija Miseviciute (second and third tennis photos) captured her 107th win, placing her in a tie for most all-time singles wins at Arkansas.

Finally on Sunday, I went to Buffalo Wild Wings in Fayetteville where a crowd gathered to watch some kind of football game. The crowd was a lot larger this year in the bars as many are still without electricity. The couple pictured, who still have yet to have their power restored, got to the bar at 3:30 -- two hours before kickoff.

Monday started me at Ozarks Electric Cooperative for a news conference announcing their progress in the restoration of power throughout the area.

After some lunch, I lucked into some wild art of maintenance work on a cell tower -- finally, something NOT storm-related.

After that, it was back to finding storm-related art. This included some more tree cleanup in Springdale and workers from Kansas City Power & Light running new electric lines along a neighborhood in north Springdale.
